Islander 48 Fore Sale

Performance, comfort and quality are skillfully combined in the classic design of the Islander 48C. Ted Brewer's artistry gave the Islander 48C graceful and efficient lines in this medium displacement design. Her hull sections maximize speed, stiffness and dryness without sacrificing interior space. The keel is a n advanced foil design and the rudder fairs into a full skeg. These hull appendages are not minimized to the detriment of good behavioral characteristics.

The side decks are wide and protected by deep, solid teak bulwarks bedded and bolted through a strong, overlapping fiberglass hull and deck flange. The deck house design provides a low silhouette without sacrificing space below and does not impede the view from the cockpit. The cockpit is "T" shaped and seats six comfortably with high coamings for additional comfort and safety. The cockpit sole is removable for easy installation of a generator . or other machinery requirements.

The mast is stepped reasonably forward to reduce the size of the fore triangle for ease of handling head sails. The sailing rig of the Islander 48C in not overly sophisticated: painted alloy spars, stainless steel rigging, internal halyards and reefing, five Barient winches, mid-boom traveller and an assortment of blocks and sheets.

Spaciousness is evident throughout the Islander 48C. Many pleasant aspects revolve around the main salon:mirrors, book shelves, drawers and lockers with sliding cane doors.

Due attention has been given to the navigational needs. Ample space is provided for charts, instruments and electronics. The center line cabinet housing the engine isolates the galley from foot traffic, giving the chef a spacious and convenient galley for food preparation. The galley and navigational station is all part of the main salon.

Two large staterooms, each with its own adjoining head and shower are separated by the main salon for additional privacy. Generous lockers, drawer, and storage space are featured throughout. Ten stainless steel opening ports, two Dorade vents, seven deck hatches, in addition to two sliding hatches, provide good lighting and ventilation.

The Islander 48C hull and deck are constructed in alternate layer of hand-laminated fiberglass. The deck has a ply core of superior strength and solid thru bolting of the deck hardware. The solid lead keel casting is attached the the hull with seventeen stainless steel bolts. All structural members are fiberglass bonded to the hull and deck where appropriate. The interior and exterior joiner work is hand-rubbed teak.

She features 100 gallons of fuel in one alloy tank, 255 gallons of water in four stainless steel tanks, and a 40 gallon waste system. The Islander 48C is powered by a Pathfinder 85 HP diesel engine.
